SureSmile® Clear Aligners

If you’re looking for a subtle, effective, and efficient path to straighter teeth, consider SureSmile. This incredible technology can correct bite misalignment as well as crowding and spacing issues with a clear and comfortable solution. Skip the trip to the orthodontist, avoid braces, and achieve the straight, beautiful smile you want.

Why Clear Aligners

Clear aligners, also known as orthodontic aligners, refer to the custom-fitted clear plastic trays used to shift teeth into alignment. Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners move teeth slowly over time through a progression of new trays. Typically, you’ll wear each aligner for about two weeks—removing it to eat and brush your teeth—before moving on to the next tray.

SureSmile® v. Invisalign®

SureSmile® and Invisalign® are two brand names for clear aligners. Invisalign® has broad recognition as it pioneered the clear aligner technology. Other brands have since come on the scene, some with equivalent results. Treatment with Invisalign®  typically lasts between 12 and 18 months. While effective, Invisalign® is a significant investment. Typically, the cost of Invisalign® is comparable to that of braces. The price of treatment makes it out of reach for many patients.

SureSmile® achieves the same end goal—a straighter more functional smile—as Invisalign® through a similar technology. The SureSmile® clear aligner system is coupled with a proprietary technology called VPro™ that uses high-frequency vibration (HFV) to speed up results. The brand cites that, used together, the aligners and HFV can cut treatment time in half. This shorter treatment time and a lower patient pricepoint are just two reasons why SureSmile® is the preferred clear aligner partner of WNC Dental.

Important Considerations

While SureSmile® is an ideal solution for many patients, it’s not a good fit for every alignment problem. Complex cases might require other orthodontic interventions or other treatment phases before beginning SureSmile®.

Patients must meet dental health requirements prior to starting SureSmile®. Ignoring other issues, like periodontal disease or infection, would be like painting a crumbling house. The paint won’t do much good if the structural issues aren’t addressed first. In the same way, your dentist will advise you on any important dental repairs required first before starting SureSmile®.

Like other dental treatments, proper care and use are key to achieving great results. SureSmile® requires commitment. Aligners must be worn 20 to 22 hours a day to be effective. Even after we achieve your beautifully straight teeth together, you’ll still need to wear your final aligners regularly to maintain your gorgeous smile.

What to Expect with SureSmile®

Before you start SureSmile® you might have a few questions. Here are a few answers to some common questions about the process and clear aligners.

Are clear aligners visible?

Some patients ask whether SureSmile® Clear Aligners are truly invisible. The truth is, they’re nearly imperceptible. The plastic used to create each clear tray is thin and transparent, letting the focus stay on your teeth. Unlike traditional braces that require visible metal brackets and wire, SureSmile® controls the pressure and placement of the aligner with tiny, tooth-colored tabs on only a few teeth.

Will clear aligners be uncomfortable?

Every person using SureSmile® clear aligners is different. Some patients do experience mild discomfort. Luckily, the SureSmile® VPro™ can provide relief. Talk to your dentist about this technology and other options to make clear aligners as comfortable as possible for you.

Will clear aligners affect the way I speak?

Clear aligners do take some adjustment. Some patients require some time to get used to talking with the clear aligners in place. At first, this may result in a slight lisp. Typically, any speech issues should be resolved within several days.

Can I use clear aligners to fix my bite?

SureSmile® Clear Aligners can be used to fix a number of bite issues. Whether you have an overbite, underbite, or an open bite, clear aligners can help. Talk to your dentist about your bite concerns to ensure that clear SureSmile® Clear Aligners offer a suitable solution for your goals.

Can I use clear aligners to fix spacing?

Yes! SureSmile® Clear Aligners can address spacing and crowding issues. Your dentist will work with you and SureSmile® experts to develop a series of trays that gradually adjust your smile to address spacing issues.
